About the Project
What is ClimAct
Women-led ClimAct is a cross-country initiative that strengthens women’s leadership in climate action, sustainable development and green governance in Türkiye, with a special focus on the Thrace Region.
Motivation
Women in many parts of Türkiye — especially in rural and semi-urban areas like Thrace — are underrepresented in climate governance and decision-making. ClimAct addresses this gap.
Goals
To empower women in Türkiye’s Thrace Region to actively participate in climate governance and sustainability initiatives, promoting gender equality, democratic engagement, and long-term environmental resilience.
The Project's Methodology
The project has been structured in six interrelated work packages (WP) depicted below
01.
Needs Assessment
Identifying the challenges and training needs of women in rural and semi-urban Türkiye, with a focus on advocacy, media literacy, and policy-making in climate action.
02.
Training and Capacity Building
Delivering intensive training to women in advocacy, policy-making, media literacy, and sustainability practices.
03.
Women’s Sustainability Councils
Establishing local Women’s Sustainability Councils to ensure women’s inclusion, visibility, and representation in climate governance.
04.
Women-led Pilot Projects
Implementing small-scale, women-led climate projects as practical models for sustainability.
05.
International Knowledge Exchange & Networking
Organizing study visits to Sweden, webinars, and online collaboration for knowledge exchange.
06.
Dissemination and Advocacy
Developing digital platforms, media productions, and communication campaigns to raise public awareness, amplify women’s voices.
